“We are excited to announce that this year our conference will be on 21st February at 15:30 Hrs London Time. Stay tuned for updates on our lineup of thought-provoking and inspiring speakers!”

This year’s LC conference will focus on steps that can be taken to preserve endangered languages around the world, and will also include discussions on the importance of preserving linguistic diversity. We will also have valuable CPD presentations for interpreters and translators. We hope that you will join us in this important conversation.

International Mother Language Day is a special day to celebrate language and its importance in local and international communities. It is observed on the 21st of February every year and Linguists Collective sees it as an important date in history to not just celebrate but also raise awareness for other languages that are endangered and on the verge of disappearing.

According to NationalGeohgraphic.com Every two weeks a language dies with its last speaker, and 50 to 90 percent of them are predicted to disappear by the next century. As much as we celebrate the importance of language and communication, we must also raise awareness for endangered languages and help in ensuring that no language becomes extinct.

We celebrate the event each year at our “Linguists Conference” because Linguists Collective is a staunch advocate of it. The Linguists Collective Conference is a virtual conference where linguists from all over the world can join in and celebrate languages. We invite notable speakers to speak on the importance of the preservation of languages, organise training for our linguists and also discuss steps to preserve endangered Languages around the world. It is also an avenue to know more about other languages.

The event will be held remotely via the Zoom platform and will be recorded for official records as well as shared online in the future, including on YouTube. We will start at 3:30pm and aiming to finish at 7:30pm London Time. This event is free and open to all (Open Invitation  | Linguists Invite).
