Sylvia Wilson

Counsellor, Drama-therapists

Sylvia Wilson is a registered practitioner with the Health Professional Council (HCPC) and the British Association of Dramatherapists (BADth). She is also a Sesame Practitioner, having completed training in working online in 2020-2021. With a background in social work, working with complex families, individuals, and their carers, Sylvia went on to train at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama and graduated as a drama and movement therapist in 1995.

Sylvia has extensive experience working with trauma, grief and loss, abuse, anxiety, depression, attachments, low self-esteem, isolation, and loneliness. She also works with persons going through divorce or separation. Sylvia offers tools to support clients that can be used outside of therapy to help them gain a better understanding of working toward positive well-being for both the body and mind and engage with life more fully.

Sylvia will speak to raise awareness of the issue of Secondary Trauma among linguists, and provide information on how to detect it, protect themselves, be open about it, and seek help if needed. Additionally, she aims to raise the profile of identifying mental health and stress signs for interpreters and translators.
